Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, KY, was established in 1864 on land purchased from William McNeal on Ewing Ferry Road.  The first burial recorded in the interment book was of Mar Davis in 1867, but many people who purchased lots here moved family members who had died before that date to Fairview from the Old Pioneer Cemetery or from family graveyards.

Mrs. Vernon Hardcastle and other D.A.R. members recorded the tombstones in 1938 of all adults buried at that time in Cemetery 1 who were born before 1900.  Only two copies were made available to the public, one being in the KY Library at Western KY University, and the other at the Bowling Green-Warren County Public Library.  Some of those tombstones are now gone, either from deterioration or vandalism.
